Turkey Trot

What happens when East and West come together to raise money for nearly 26,000 public school students in Aurora?

Over 1000 people crossed the finish line at the 3rd Annual Tom-A-Hawk Turkey Trot!  It was another awesome event! Thanks to Aurora East Educational Foundation, Erica Kegarise, Mike Nelson, Shane Gillespie, Tim Wagner, Bill J. Deligiannis, and all of our sponsors! We are humbled again this year by this community's support of public education!

East is East and West is West, and in Aurora, Together is Best!!!
129 + 131 = One Aurora

The A+ Foundation for West Aurora Schools and the Aurora East Educational Foundation are coming together in order to raise funds for the improvement of the public education experience for all our students in Aurora.

The A+ Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that began in 1992 as the Foundation for West Aurora School which then merged in 2008 with the West Aurora High School Alumni Association. The A+ Foundation supports the students, staff, and community and raises money in order to enhance opportunities and provide additional resources which are so necessary to the success of our District.

The goals of the A+ Foundation are to enrich the curriculum of West Aurora School District 129, inspire excellence in students and staff, expand opportunities for community involvement and foster alumni connections. The Mission of A+ is to support and promote educational, cultural and charitable programs for the students and alumni of School District 129. Support is provided through grants, programs and scholarships to enhance lifelong learning opportunities for recipients.

The Aurora East Educational Foundation (AEEF) was established in 1993 to provide funds and resources for the enhancement and enrichment of the educational programs and activities of East Aurora School District 131. The AEEF attracts private funds and resources to support programs and services not funded with tax dollars. Over the last 7 years, the AEEF has been able to provide over $270,000 in Scholarships for Students and Mini-Grants for Teachers w/in EASD 131 and assisted D131 in securing over $1,241,000 in grant funds.

The mini-grant award program has been well received by teachers and staff throughout the entire district and the scholarship program has grown dramatically on an annual basis. The 3 tiers of the AEEF Scholarship Program comprise: Students Pursuing a Degree in Education, High Achieving Students who have Excelled Academically throughout their High School Career, and Students Pursuing a Career Path in Vocational Studies.
